Need a little help?

Ringing Liberty Bell

Occasionally students need extra help on an assignment or a friendly reminder or a stronger reminder about what is expected of them. On this page I'll put some useful tips relating to class homework or projects so they can find the help they need even when I'm not available (e.g., on weekends or evenings).  Remember to look for information on Whetstone Words first in your book in the chapter we are presently on, then in a dictionary or internet and if no luck then come to me before Friday morning.  Always do your whetstone words by Thursday so that you can ask me if you have to.  I will not answer questions on assignments, due that day, after class has started.

Never leave a question blank.  Always try to answer it.  If you do not even try, you will have two errors instead of just one.

Labs:      Generally speaking most of the labs in 7th, 8th and 9th grade are fairly safe.  It is however important to wear goggles and a rubberized apron when working in the lab.  One never knows when or what can go wrong.

General rules for the lab in addition to proper safety wear are:
1.  Talk in low voices
2.  Respect others as they work
3.  Go quietly from classroom to lab and back again
4.  Never run or throw things in the lab.
5.  Pay attention to teacher instructions and lab instructions
6.. Please apply lab information to what you are studing in text.

In this area I might include some tips and guidelines that students should keep in mind regardless of the week's specific assignment, such as: "A word once spoken is like a bullet, you can not get it back once it is fired."

When writing or speaking, never forget who your audience is. The written word is meant to be read, but it won't always be read by the same audience. Tailor your writing style  or spoken word to suit the people who will be reading or hearing your work.
